The Constitution of India was passed by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into effect from 26th January 1950. Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar is known as the planner of the Constitution of India. He was the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee. Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26th November and the day of 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in India. It is the duty of every citizen of India to understand and understand the Constitution of India of our country.

Interesting Facts about the Indian Constitution
1). The idea of constituting a Constituent Assembly in India was first put up by M. N. Roy in 1934. Thereafter, in 1935, the Indian National Congress, for the first time, sought the constitution of the Constituent Assembly for the constitution of India.
2). The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly was held on 9th December 1946. The Constituent Assembly was the first Parliament of independent India, Dr. Sachidanand Sinha was the first Speaker (Temporary Speaker) of the Constituent Assembly. On December 11, 1946, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected as the Chairperson of the Constitution, who remained the President of the Indian Constitution till the end.
3). It took 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to make the Constitution. A total expenditure of Rs. 64 lakh was incurred on the formulation of the Constitution. Both the Hindi and English versions of the Indian Constitution were handwritten. It is the longest handwritten constitution of any country on earth.
4). The original copies of the Indian Constitution written in Hindi and English have been placed in a case filled with special helium in the Library of Parliament of India to be preserved for a long time.
5). The Constitution of India is the largest written constitution of the world. It has a total of 448 article, 22 parts, 12 schedules and 97 amendment.
6). The original Constitution of India was written by Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada in italic style with beautiful calligraphy.

17). The word ‘socialist’ and secular were added to the preamble by the 42nd Amendment Act of the Constitution in 1976. It ensures equality and religious tolerance of all religions.
18). No citizen in India enjoys dual citizenship. There is no discrimination on the basis of caste, color, race, religion or language and everybody has equal status and opportunity.
19). The Constitution of India is based on three key points. The first political principle, according to which India will be a democratic country.
20). Each page in the Indian Constitution was decorated by the artists of Santi Niketan: the original Constitution is handwritten, in which each page is uniquely decorated by the artists of Santi Niketan. These artists include Ram Manohar Sinha and Nandal Bose.
